As we continue our study in the Gospel of Mark, we begin to see a pattern - Jesus is challenged at every step. In today's Scripture, Jesus is asked by curious observers, "Why don't your disciples fast?" Jesus's response shows He was not against fasting as an expression of one's heart, but He WAS against fasting being conducted as a self-serving ritual. He makes His point in 3 "parables" - The Bridegroom, Mending Garments, and New Wine.
